Mukhtar Hussain
Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Mukhtar Hussain is the Founder and CEO of Montague Advisory Partners (MAP). He is a Chartered Banker who had a career which spanned 39 years at HSBC. He served in multiple Senior Executive roles in Europe, Middle East, and Asia. He retired in 2021 as a Group General Manager in Hongkong. He was appointed an Executive Committee member in each of the regions he served.
Mukhtar commenced his career in London as an investment analyst and then moved into Corporate and Investment Banking. In 1993 he was posted to the Middle East by HSBC to spearhead the establishment of a wholesale banking platform. He led the formation of the first JV Investment Bank in Saudi Arabia for HSBC. He was subsequently posted in 2006 to London to become Global Head of Principal Investments. In 2010 he was appointed as CEO to HSBC Malaysia, which is one of the largest HSBC franchises is ASEAN. In 2018 he was invited to lead a strategic initiative related to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) for HSBC.
Mukhtar has extensive Board experience having served as Chairman of HSBC Singapore, Deputy Chair at HSBC Malaysia and as a Board Director for HSBC Middle East and multiple other entities.
Rafi Syed Ahmed
Co-Founder & Managing Director
Rafi Ahmed is a Co-Founder & Managing Director of Montague Advisory Partners (MAP). His career spanned over 40 years and encompassed experience across Corporate, Investment Banking, and Global Markets. He has served in Senior Management roles in the UK, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates. He has led and built platforms for businesses for leading international institutions such as HSBC, JP Morgan Chase, FAB and Riyadh Bank.
Rafi is a seasoned Global Markets executive who has successfully established and run large Regional Treasury Centres. He built a market leading capability for HSBC in the Middle East and established a wholesale banking platform for FAB in Europe.
He has significant transactional expertise in Risk Management structures where he personally led a number of ground-breaking transactions for HSBC. He has served as a Board Director of HSBC entities in Saudi Arabia and is an experienced Senior Banker with significant Global Markets expertise.
Mr. David Moleshead
Senior Adviser
David is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and has over 42 years of experience in investment/international banking in UK, Europe, Asia, and Middle East. He has lead teams that have arranged financing for many iconic projects, M&A and general corporate finance purposes totaling several billion dollars. He led HSBC Debt Capital Markets business in MENA which remains a market leader today.
David has significant corporate finance experience having established the Envestor platform in the UAE and advising many Entrepreneurs and SMEs on raising equity capital. He served as a Senior Regional Advisor to the UK Government for the arrangement of Expert Finance across MENA.
David’s breadth of expertise and network of relationships both within and beyond MENA allow him to contribute valuable insights and judgement in support of Montague Advisory Partners (MAP) clients.
Mr. Jasbir Bindra
Senior Adviser
Jasbir has more than 27 years of experience in the financial services industry, including financial crime compliance – AML risk management, financial accounting and reporting, treasury finance and treasury operations, market risk, credit risk, and operational risk management. He has worked in senior roles including Chief Financial Officer, Regional Treasury Controller and country head of Financial Crime Compliance for Global Banking and Markets at HSBC MENA.
In his role in Financial Crime Compliance, Jasbir was responsible for setting up the financial crime compliance functions in DIFC and ADGM offices for HSBC while supporting the UAE onshore business. He implemented compliance policies and procedures to meet local regulatory requirements of UAE Central Bank, DFSA (for DIFC) and FSRA (for ADGM) and to meet US Monitor recommendations under DPA. He also delivered training on AML, AB&C and Sanctions for meeting regulatory requirements in ADGM, DIFC and UAE onshore.
Jasbir is a Chartered Accountant (member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales). He is also a member of the Accountants and Auditors Association of the UAE and a Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist. He is a graduate from Middlesex University, UK.
Mr. Peter Luketa
Principal
Peter is a Senior banker with over 40 years’ experience at Midland Bank, Midland Montagu and HSBC Investment Bank and HSBC Bank plc. Last twenty years spent in Project and Export Finance, 12 years as Managing Director and 9 years as Global Head of Export Finance and Forfaiting. Experience in managing large teams 70 plus (globally) as well as small units. Key staffing jobs in Germany and London. Led HSBC Export Finance to the number one position in its industry. (Dealogic confirmed). Developed senior level contacts with Public Sector, Corporates, Financial Institutions as well as Private Banking.
Peter is an experienced Project and Export Finance professional having worked with 23 Export Credit Agencies (ECA)around the world. His relationships with the senior management of the global ECAS are well established and he has worked extensively across various sectors including, Telecommunications, Transport, Power, and Energy in support of leading public and private sector sponsors.
Peter has Board experience at Anglo-Gulf Trade Bank in Abu Dhabi. AGTB is a digitally based trade finance institution serving various clients in both MENA and Africa.
